Project Overview:
The project, completed in collaboration with the Texas Department, used a design-build process, for the construction of the 8.4-mile initial phase of the ultimate 14.4-mile project. The $1 billion DFW Connector includes state highways 114 and 121 and adjacent roadways located north of DFW Airport. The eight-mile project rebuilt portions of four highways, two interchanges, and five bridges. New direct-connect ramps were built from northbound SH 121 to westbound SH 114, and from eastbound SH 114 to southbound SH 121.
Services Provided by Team Members from 1836:
- Reviewed shop drawings, working drawings, and specifications and made recommendations
- Performed Owner Verification Testing and ensured QA test results were validating.
- Testing and Inspection of drainage elements, illumination, striping and signage, electronic tolling, intelligent transportation systems, fencing, utility relocation, guard rails, and landscaping
- Cross-trained Inspectors and Technicians to be utilized in both roles
